Channel 21 (PBS)
- 1977: Circa February 1977, WXXI screened the Jon Pertwee stories.
- 1978: WXXI screened the Tom Baker stories from 1978.
- 1985: Channel 21 recycles stories from Robot to The Caves of Androzani daily at least twice.
- 1989: As part of a pledge drive, WXXI-TV showed the documentary Doctor Who's Who's Who as a lead-in to the season premiere Remembrance of the Daleks.
- 1989: The station aired the 17 repackaged William Hartnell stories, five Patrick Troughton stories and 24 Jon Pertwee stories, followed by the other Doctors.
- 1989-1992: It took three years to play all the surviving installments of the entire series. This would be WXXI's last-ever complete run of the entire series...

Channel 17 (PBS)
- 25 October 1977: WNED screened Doctor Who, weeknights at 6.30pm in tandem with WXXI (from 1977 through until 1987). It was during screenings of the Jon Pertwee stories in 1977/78 that off-air recordings were made by Tom Lundie, which were later instrumental in the reconstruction from black and white back into colour.
- 1979: The series aired weeknights at 6.00pm.
- 1982: Starting with the Peter Davison stories, the series moved to Saturdays.
- 1987: Part-way through the run of William Hartnell stories, WNED screens The Trial of a Time Lord.
- 1987 WNED completes its screening of the William Hartnell stories and Patrick Troughton stories by September 1987.
- 1990: In the 1990s, Doctor Who aired in omnibus movie form, Saturdays at 4.00pm. The 17 repackaged William Hartnell stories were played for the second time during this run.
- 1991: By February 1991, Doctor Who had been dropped.

- 7 October 1978: At 6.30pm, Tom Baker makes his debut in New York State. WOR-TV (aka WWOR) was one of the earliest stations in the United States to broadcast the Tom Baker stories.
- Stories aired in production order, so The Sontaran Experiment proceeded The Ark in Space.
- From 6 January 1979, the series shifted to the earlier time of 5.00pm, but was often pre-empted by baseball.
- From August 1982, to October 1983, two episodes aired back to back, Saturdays between 10.00am and 11.00am.
- 1983: The series aired in one-hour slots, from 10.00am on Saturday mornings.
- By February 1991, Doctor Who had been dropped.

- 2 September 1985: Began airing Doctor Who daily at 10:30pm.
- 1986: WNYC screened the 17 repackaged William Hartnell stories, five Patrick Troughton stories and 24 Jon Pertwee stories, on Fridays, in omnibus editions, usually from 9.00 to 10.30pm.
- When Resurrection of the Daleks aired in its omnibus "movie" version on WNYC, it was complete: most editions of this story seen elsewhere in the US had sections of music and special effects missing.

- 1986: The series screened episodically weekdays, at 6.30pm, with a late night omnibus edition on Sundays. By December the weekly screenings had ended, leaving only the Sunday omnibus editions, at 7.00 to 9.00pm.
- 1987: The 17 repackaged William Hartnell stories, five Patrick Troughton stories and 24 Jon Pertwee stories aired.
